Montenegro: Matching actual housing evidence to a scholarship’s accommodation category when the call defines one

Some grant calls distinguish students living with family, commuting or staying separately in the study city. Not every programme uses those categories, and being away from home informally does not establish an official classification. Read the call’s definitions, accepted tenancy evidence and actual length of stay together before choosing a category.

Apply the local route to your case

If my grant call defines housing categories, which evidence matches my actual stay to a category and its reporting deadline? Do not use Montenegro’s older incoming guide as a current room-price list or scholarship call. Ask the coordinator to distinguish the financial conditions of an exchange from those of a full degree. Budget for housing, insurance, travel and initial setup as well as tuition. Do not count an unconfirmed scholarship as income. Read the current call for nationality, programme, renewal and coverage conditions, and obtain written payment and refund terms before making a financial commitment. Check the application and document record with the named office. If instructions conflict, request a written clarification referring to the current official page, and retain the answer in your file.

  • Check nationality, programme, application year and nomination rules in the University of Montenegro International Relations Office call.
  • Separate a submission receipt from an award letter and document amount, period and payment conditions.
  • Plan bridging funds if the scholarship pays after rent is due or financial evidence is required.

Steps for this specific problem

  1. Check the application status against the published document list. Submit requested corrections through the official channel within the stated deadline, retain proof, and distinguish acceptance of a document from a final scholarship award.
  2. Use the household and income definitions in the specific call. Reconcile names, reporting years and ownership records, and do not assume that an Italian aid document is a universal requirement or proof of eligibility elsewhere.
  3. Verify the address, the party entitled to let the property and the written contract. An urgent request from a stranger is not evidence of legitimacy; ask the official student accommodation service about alternatives before sending a deposit.
  4. Record rent, deposit, utilities, notice periods and the move-in date separately. Ask the contracting party which charges can change and which evidence is needed for a refund, rather than treating an advertised monthly figure as the entire cost.
  5. Keep a dated inventory, agreed meter readings, photographs and handover records together. Obtain written confirmation of key return and the address for deposit correspondence so that a later dispute can be tied to concrete records.
  6. Ask both the university and the competent residence or municipal office how an address change must be reported. Updating one account may leave other records unchanged, so keep confirmation from each office that needs the new address.

The linked procedure to check

Montenegro’s ENIC/NARIC centre describes recognition for employment purposes. Do not substitute that process for admission to further study; identify the competent office for the actual purpose of your application. Plan university admission, academic recognition and professional licensing as separate checks. Obtain a written document list for your own qualification before paying for translations or an application. Check transcripts, name differences and the required prior study level early so that missing evidence does not derail your application. Check the application and document record with the named office. If instructions conflict, request a written clarification referring to the current official page, and retain the answer in your file.

A common decision point

Does renting a room elsewhere automatically increase every student’s grant amount?

No. A category matters only where the relevant call defines it. Confirm address, tenancy type, duration and evidence requirements with the grant office. Track any deadline for reporting housing changes; municipal address registration, a tenancy agreement and scholarship classification are separate processes rather than automatic equivalents.

Requirements change. Before applying or paying, use the current call at the linked source and obtain the institution's written confirmation.
