Greece: scholarships and study funding

Check eligibility before comparing scholarship amounts. An award may cover tuition, living costs or only a particular mobility period. Admission does not automatically include funding, and a national call may run on a different timetable from university financial support.

Greece’s State Scholarships Foundation, IKY, publishes individual funding calls and results. A previous selection result is not a new application round. Check the target degree, subject and applicant group in the actual notice; studying in Greece alone does not establish eligibility. Keep tuition, rent and travel in separate budget lines. Count support as confirmed only after a written award decision, and maintain a workable financing plan if your application is unsuccessful.

Build your action plan

Check nationality, residence, degree and subject restrictions for each call.
Compare covered expenses, duration and conditions rather than the headline award alone.
Establish whether funding needs a separate application or nomination.
Do not budget an unconfirmed scholarship as income; reserve cash for travel, deposits and early months.
