Malta: scholarships and study funding

CliniGA Education editorial teamSources checked: October 27, 2026

Check eligibility before comparing scholarship amounts. An award may cover tuition, living costs or only a particular mobility period. Admission does not automatically include funding, and a national call may run on a different timetable from university financial support.

Malta

The University of Malta explains that research entities periodically advertise funded postgraduate and doctoral opportunities. The government’s Endeavour II scheme has its own call and eligibility framework. Do not treat research funding as a universal international-student award; check course fees for your actual programme and applicant category. Keep tuition, rent and travel in separate budget lines. Count support as confirmed only after a written award decision, and maintain a workable financing plan if your application is unsuccessful.

Build your action plan

Check nationality, residence, degree and subject restrictions for each call.
Compare covered expenses, duration and conditions rather than the headline award alone.
Establish whether funding needs a separate application or nomination.
Do not budget an unconfirmed scholarship as income; reserve cash for travel, deposits and early months.
