Iceland: university applications and qualification recognition

CliniGA Education editorial teamSources checked:

An admission application, academic recognition and permission to stay are different processes. Different institutions may request the same document for different purposes. Begin by identifying the application route that applies to your nationality, residence and previous qualification.

Iceland

Iceland has no central university admissions system: applications go directly to individual universities. Requirements and supporting documents vary by institution. A positive preliminary response from one school does not establish the decision of another institution or eligibility for a different degree level. Map each document to its receiving authority, then confirm translations and intake instructions directly. Academic assessment alone is not an admission or immigration decision; clarify how any missing evidence must be supplied.
