Psychology master’s in Italy: admission, Italian language requirements and exams

Application conditions and current sources

Italy’s new professionally qualifying LM-51 psychology master’s route includes practical-evaluative training (TPV) within the course and a practical-evaluative assessment (PPV) before the thesis defence. The old model of a separate one-year postgraduate placement and state exam is not universal; transitional and older-course routes differ. Admission, foreign qualification assessment and professional registration are separate matters. Check the programme call for language, prior coursework and practical-training credits.

Start by identifying the exact degree class and whether the course is a professionally qualifying LM-51 programme. A course taught in English does not by itself establish eligibility for every professional activity in Italy. Send the university your transcript and detailed course descriptions so that it can assess curricular prerequisites and any missing practical-training credits. Ask which language evidence is accepted for admission and which language is needed for placements and professional assessment. There is no single admissions test or language threshold that can safely be assigned to every university. For a foreign qualification, request the programme’s current instructions on authenticity, translations and qualification evaluation; an academic admission decision is not automatically professional recognition of an overseas licence. Before accepting an offer, check placement arrangements, supervision, the assessment sequence and remaining registration obligations. Keep the programme call and written answers. If your degree follows an older or transitional system, ask the university which regime applies rather than copying instructions for the new qualifying route.
